Conure Information

Conures are either classed as large parakeets or small parrots. They are native to Central and South America. Conures are lightly built, with long tails. They range in size from the largest, the Patagonian at 17"-18" to the smallest, the Painted Conure at 8.5". Today conures are available in a diverse range of colour mutations, form a normal green cheek to the much desired pineapple.

Like all parrots, they are social birds. They do require daily interaction. They are very active parrots that love to play, explore and chew so you must provide them with a variety of toys to occupy them or else they will become bored and this as with any parrot may & can develop into behavioural problems.

Most conures appreciate a daily misting / being lightly sprayed with warm water. Additionally offering a shallow bowl of water for them to bathe in will be readily accepted.Conures, in general, love to snuggle under things, a snuggle hut / tent positioned in their cage will be eagerly accepted.

Conures should be provided with fresh water at all times as they have a habit of bathing in it the moment you change it, however the pleasure and condition they get from bathing outweighs the extra work.
A conure's diet should consist of a small parrot mix,Vegetables and fruits should be part of their daily diet. This can includes apples, grapes, blueberries, pomegranate, carrots, broccoli, spinach, sweetcorn, etc.

Conures have the potential to make wonderful pet companions if socialized from an early age. They are often referred to as the clowns of the parrot world due to their constant clownish antics. What they lack in size they more than make up for it with their big personalities.
